On April 12, the Cultures of Adaptation Network (CAN), along with the Ohio State University Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center and the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA) hosted a hybrid event entitled “Unpacking the 5th U.S. National Climate Assessment for the Midwest & Flash Talks Highlighting Climate Resilience Partnerships in Central Ohio“. The event included a keynote talk by Dr. Aaron Wilson, the State Climatologist of Ohio and lead author of the Midwest chapter of the 5th U.S. National Climate Assessment. The event also included flash talks by Jennie McAdams from Franklin County Public Health, Katie Devlin from IMPACT Columbus, and Dr. Ryan Winston from the Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Together, the speakers highlighted the effects of climate change on the central Ohio region and outlined local adaptation and resilience strategies and initiatives. The event was attended by approximately 75 individuals from around the world.
